Mondegreen

In case you don't know, this is what a mondegreen is. And now you have that song stuck in your head. (via Fark)

  1. No, this is stretching a lyric 'way past the breaking point trying to create a mondegreen.  I have never known anyone who thought the second line of the song had anything to do with Cool Whip or bears.

  2. I dunno Bill, sing along. . .

On a dark desert highway, cool whip and a bear
Warm smell of fajitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shivering light
My head grew heavy so I cycled in
I had to stop for the night

There she stood in the doorway,
    I heard the missing bell
And I was thinking to myself
This could be heaven or this could be Hell
Then she looked up Nintendo and she showed me the way.
There were horses down the corridor...
And still those horses were calling from far away...

Welcome to the hotel can't afford ya
Such a lovely place, Such an ugly face
    Shut your ugly face
Plenty of room at the Motel California
Any time of year (any time of year) you can find it here

Her mind is stiff and it's twisted,
she got immersed in the bands
She's got a lot or pretty, pretty boys, that she calls men's
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget
So I called up the Captain,
    "Will you be my wife?"
He said, "We haven't had that spirit here
    since nineteen-sixty nine."
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
    Just to hear them say
    .
    .
