What You Can Do

The US government has started arresting anyone crossing the border without a visa, including those seeking legal asylum. Since you can't send kids to jail, that results in children being separated from their parents as a matter of course. Parents are not told where their children are, nor when they will get to see them. Children are held in crowded facilities until foster homes can be arranged, which can take a while and often sends children to far away states.

Tomorrow is a day of protest against family separation as US policy. Families Belong Together has a list of events nationwide you can participate in on June 14. If you can't make it to a demonstration, you can donate to the Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project or KIND (Kids in Needs of Defense). There are other groups working to help refugees and asylum seekers, too.
