Sure, what's not to like? But background checks are useless for getting semi-automatic weapons and bump stocks off the streets and market. In fact, background checks are pretty useless period.
It'd be just like the NRA to all of sudden support background checks as response to the current environment. Don't fall for it.
I didn't want to post more than one tweet here, but the full poll shows support for a ban on assault weapons, a waiting period, and it addresses a lot of questions on the poll that has nothing to do with guns.
Personally, I think we should regulate guns as much as we do vehicles, but that will never happen because of the Firearms Owners Protection Act.
The Federal Assault Weapons Ban expired in 2004 after 10 years. Repeated attempts to re-enact it have failed. Timing is right to do it again - with some added restrictions.
