ReplyDeleteDACA is one of the finest examples around of the
ReplyDeletedysfunctionality in our government. Congress fails
to act, President Obama oversteps his authority,
and the whole mess ends up in the courts where once
again, the judicial branch is forced to legislate.
President Trump did the right thing. DACA would
have been ruled unconstitutional and then there
would have been a real mess. The President’s
action maintains the status quo and nobody gets
hurt. Providing Congress pulls their thumbs out
of their arses and does their job.
DACA is an example of what happens when a President tries to rule by executive power. The executive order authorizing DACA expired when President Obama left office. President Trump would have had to renew it. When Trump left office, the next President would have had to authorize it.
ReplyDeletePresident Obama screwed up when he didn't get Congress to make the program permanent.
I do not understand why anyone would want to punish people who were brought here as children. They committed no crime. They should all be allowed to become citizens immediately. I also think this whole immigration thing is terribly racist. There are lots of undocumented Caucasian immigrants, but no one ever mentions them.

ReplyDeleteReaders Digest version. " In 1986, Ronald Reagan signed a sweeping immigration reform bill into law. It was sold as a crackdown: There would be tighter security at the Mexican border, and employers would face strict penalties for hiring undocumented workers.
But the bill also made any immigrant who'd entered the country before 1982 eligible for amnesty."
