Well, you did ask. And some us feel we're just Exiting the Twilight Zone. .
It looks like such a doom and gloom scenario. Certainly some bad stuff will happen. But you Americans will survive it. You got through Joe McCarthy, Watergate and other crises. You will take the hits and get up and fix it again and you will be better for it.
Europeans always like to think that Americans have such short memories. Our 'longer' memory shows us how close Trumps rise to power parallels Hitlers. That makes many of us think that the same thing is about to happen in the USA. We are pre-programmed from the pain of the last century to think is unavoidable that the same thing will happen to you.
But in spite of what many see as a 'culture of ignorance', sooner or later the same decency that sent young American boys to die on Omaha beach and many other places to free Europe from a crazy dictator, will reassert itself again to do whatever it takes to the same thing in your own country.
PS. If you need any help, let us know. We will start building the landing craft tomorrow. You are not alone.
President Donald Trump, a fabulously wealthy entrepreneur and real estate mogul, with an ego the size of the 68-story glittering tower he erected in Manhattan in honor of himself. A man with a bad orange combover that unsuccessfully attempts to overshadow a permanent pout. This is the face of unrestrained privilege. Born with a 24-karat gold spoon in an oversized mouth that can't stop spewing out an endless barrage of insults, self-glorifying praise and enough unintelligible non sequitur to fill the Vatican Library. Donald Trump wants it all and now he has it all--the Oval Office in Washington DC complete with an army of Secret Servicemen ready to tend to his every need and a bevy of small buttons for doing everything from ordering a 3 am six-course Twitter snack, which he does quite often, to starting a nuclear war on a whim, which he may do all-too-soon. President Trump has it all, no doubt. Or, at least, that's what he thinks for President Trump is about to find out what he lacks aside from class, manners, tact and an attention span of longer than 2.4 seconds. Today, President Donald J. Trump will find himself, as they say, in over his jumbo-sized, orange head. Today, President Donald J. Trump and the great country he leads, indeed the entire planet, will learn that his lack of planning and policy is a one-way, irredeemable ticket...to the Twilight zone.
@Matthew – you started out right on track, but then you lost me. I couldn’t agree more about us having short memories; or more correctly, no sense history. And that is precisely why it’s so easy to compare Trump to Hitler. As an amateur student of history, especially World War II, I really bristle at how easily comparisons to Hitler, Gestapo and Nazi are used in American Society. There are no Brown Shirts in our streets, no Night of the Long Knives, no re-education camps (or worse). Today was no Putsch, just an orderly transition of power within the most powerful country in the world. It was also a reset. We have drifted much too far in one direction and that had to change. Speaking of history, this has actually happened before; the most notable instance being the election of Andrew Jackson in 1828. Not a lot of social media back then to amplify it.
The Twilight Zone is parents encouraging a child to burn things in the street because they do not like who was elected president. I am proud of America. When people complained about Obama, people said, "give him a chance". President Trump t hasn't even been president for a day and I have NOT heard that said of him. MAGA
I think these should be a most curious 4 years & I think all of us b4 sack time ought to say a prayer for the NY Squirrel/POTUS
as for all the monsters real or imagined,it sad and can be said in earnest we can be our own worst enemy if we should let our own worst fears run away with us
yep, give him a chance, He is obviously a dedicated American, and what's the problem with ILLEGAL immigration?? and keeping jobs here? protecting our borders? bringing jobs back to the US? why is this considered weird any way you slice it??
Anonymous, many people said "Let's give him a chance!", starting right after the election, up until he tried to start an international incident with China a few days later.

ReplyDeletethose who would hide behind the word "Anonymous" are pure cowards and oughtto be BBQed
ReplyDeleteYou wonder why people post Anonymously? Because people will threaten to roast your flesh, as in BBQed. And all because Anon said give him a chance.
