Some people bemoan the "selfie generation," but taking selfies is just a manifestation of a trend that's been going on for decades (although one could argue
it started centuries ago). The glorification of the individual over the community has just become more evident with the rise of the internet. Being liked, or at least known, is more desirable than being good.
