Cities are all cities, but they differ greatly in everything else. You know European cities are older, but you probably don’t know how much that affects everything else about them. One big difference is how dense they are. Modern technology, particularly in transportation, affected how cities grew. Kilometres, not kilometers.
Meters are machines that measure things, like a speedoMETER, or an electric METER, while metres are units of distance.

I have live in cities on occasion. They are nice and have all the shops but just not for me. Visiting, I can last about 3 days and it is time to go.
