Public Restrooms Around the World

Imagine being sent on a round-the-world trip just to document public toilets. Cut Video sent Blaine on such a trip, although I have a feeling he had plenty of other assignments as well. That said, he indeed documented public toilets in major cities all over. They may not be representative of all the city’s, or country’s toilets, of course. This video contains images that might be NSFW, because it’s about toilets, but no penises. (via Viral Viral Videos)

  1. In Zurich there is a public toilet near the Lindenhof that is 1)free and 2)amazing. It’s stainless steel inside and out, with an outer shell with a pretty perforated design on 2 sides of linden seeds. When you go inside, there is a large handle that you can operate with your elbow, or you can step on a floor pedal, to raise/lower the seat as needed. The floor is also perforated with the linden seed pattern. When you’re done and leave the cubicle, the door locks for 30 seconds and the interior is sprayed with some cleaning solution and a dryer comes on, so that it’s nice and clean for the next patron. The TP is in a recessed cubicle that opens only when you lock the door, and apparently closes when you leave, to keep it dry. There are no paper towels, just another motion activated blower. It’s delightful! And quite different from the others in the canton with black lights designed to make it impossible to find veins for your drug use.
