A mile is nearly equal to 1.6 kilometres, which is 1600 metres, kilo meaning thousand.
I know it is hard to change, but all other English speaking countries have converted to metric, and there is no reason for Americans to believe they are less capable.

You will have to adopt metric one day, you can't go on measuring things in football fields, school bus, fridges or feet ... people's feet are different sizes, ffs.

Mine are size 12, Miss Cellania's are size 5.
My shoe size has always been a 6, but I found out recently that I can wear a child's size 4. That will save me some money.
