The year was 1958, the month, June, the girl was 17 year-old Bianca Passarge, from Hamburg in Germany. The dance was based on a dream she had.
This photo keeps popping up on the interwebs, years ago, I was bored and set out to find out what why and when, but that's all I ever came up with. When looking at old photographs I always think of the people, the world they live in, the backstory.
And looking at this, I wonder about her backstory. at 17, she would have been born in 1941, two years old when the Allies bombed Hamburg, creating a devastation unmatched even by the atomic bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
