Russians commonly use dash cams to record what happens on the road to defend themselves in case of accident fraud. That's why we have so much footage of the meteor that exploded over Chelyabinsk. The custom also records some wonderful instances of kindness and helpfulness. This compilation shows drivers and passersby helping drivers stuck in the snow, animals in the street, and many little old ladies terrified by traffic. (via Laughing Squid)
How wonderful! Life in Russia is still hard, and the people are still in many ways hard. It is wonderful to see these acts of good will.
Russians consider themselves to be the closest people to Americans in the world. We (US) see them as "quite different." I hope that we Americans can match these acts of good will by them.
Those older women are probably terrified because it's a whole new world. For most of their lives there was very little vehicular traffic.
