The date today is 10/10/10! In celebration, mental_floss is publishing ten lists of ten. My contribution is an article that doesn't sound all that interesting by title, but turned out to be a fascinating subject as I put it together. The most historically American crop is also the most versatile, as you'll see in this article I wrote for mental_floss' on 10/10/10.
