Mr. Sardonicus

In the 1961 Willian Castle gothic horror film Mr. Sardonicus, physician Sir Robert Cargrave is summoned by his ex-girlfriend Maude to a spooky eastern European castle to treat her new husband, Baron Sardonicus. The Baron suffers from a face paralyzed into an evil grin that interferes with eating and speaking -a result of his grave robbing incident. He rules his roost with cruelty, and Dr. Cargrave is drawn into his plans to cure his malady with experimental procedures because he's afraid of what may happen to Maude. (Thanks, WTM!)

  1. First saw this movie at a very young age and it worked for me. Went around for a long time mimicking that whine through clenched teeth. I actually still do it occasionally though no one has a clue WTH that is. Mom was right. Those movies will rot your mind. Unfortunately, like most of the movies from this period, it doesn't hold up well.

Slightly off topic side note: The 4K restored version of the 1958 Christopher Lee Horror of Dracula releases in the US on October 27th (+/- 4 minutes of previously cut scenes deemed too bloody/racy for the time). TNT is airing the cut original this Friday in all its technicolor gory, err glory.
