Off topic, but why do people that live in areas that freeze, and hence need a furnace, not just move ? I was born in a land of snow, we had drifts up to the roofline of our two storey house, took me until I was 7 years old before I was able to articulate my words well enough so I could convince my family of the stupidity they were displaying by staying there. We moved to the Antipodes, and to a part where the main problem is too much heat, not enough. And these days, surely a much safer means of warming one's home is a heat exchanging air conditioner ? Having a tank of flammable fuel nestled up against, or sometimes right under, the house does seem a recipe for a song from Talking Heads.
