I have a rather chewed-up copy of The Radio Planet, by Ralph Milne Farley (1927) The main character is on Venus, a planet populated by two intelligent races: humans and giant ants. He's marooned a continent away from his wife (a human) and, to get back, he has to produce a vacuum tube radio transmitter from rocks just lying around in the ground. It takes awhile but he does it. It's pretty good. You can read it for free on Project Gutenberg.
