Never mind; I'll look it up...

Okay, one article says it's because they're naturally energetic and they like food a lot. Ahem. Another says, "A Golden Retriever’s high hunger may be due to multifactorial causes, including biology, dog-owner relationships, and other environmental factors. However, at this time, the exact cause of why Golden Retrievers are always so hungry is unknown." Multifactorial causes, tch.

The dog I had when I was little was a Pekingese-Poodle mix. We got her from the dog pound. She lived on leftovers and old food from my grandparents' Italian restaurant, across the alley, mostly spaghetti and meat sauce, old pizza, even salad. My mother would put the food on a napkin on the kitchen floor, and Pepper would eat about half of it, wrap it up in the napkin with her nose and push it under the edge of the refrigerator for later.

I remember I picked her in the first place because she looked like Captain Kangaroo, and because, of all the dogs we saw in the pound, she wasn't barking her head off, all distracted and crazy, but quietly concentrated on gesturing her case to get out of the cage and jump up and lick my face.Marco McCleanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11102357113076810121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15663150.post-6726363299378643222014-11-24T18:05:18.421-05:002014-11-24T18:05:18.421-05:00This is exactly how my Lab and my Shepherd eat.
