An Illustration of the Difference in State Coronavirus Responses

You can see an enlarged version of this graph by Stephanie Jolly at Facebook. It highlights how quick action makes a difference in the spread of disease. Stay strong, Kentuckians; you're doing it right. More on the story here, and even more here. Now imagine is the federal government had taken swift and decisive action at the beginning of the epidemic. (via Fark)

Update: Aaaand the first US Senator to test positive for coronavirus is ...Kentucky senator Rand Paul. It is not clear where Paul is staying during his quarantine.

Keep in mind that Tennessee has a 53% larger population than Kentucky. But the numbers displayed show that the point holds - prompt action is appropriate.

Rate of change is what is important in the graph. Not absolute numbers.

Kentucky has a Democratic governor, Tennessee has a Re-pub governor. As can be seen in the notes to the graph, there has been a stark difference of policy, with Tennessee following the lead of the White House. Sorry if anybody is offended by the facts.

And we here are stuck with Marcia and Lamar............

SnoMan is right. The graph is misleading at best due to population difference as well as the number and size of metropolitan areas. The comparative timeline of actions taken by the respective governors is notable in an of itself. Tying it to the graph numbers is disingenuous.
