Apples

In my mind's eye, I can believe but not put myself into the place of people who have no inner monologue. I knew there were people who could let their minds go blank, but I could never do that myself. And I cannot imagine how people think without words. Apparently this was a surprise to Chris Hallbeck of Maximumble as well.

I just found out about aphantasia which I have. I TOTALLY thought "picture a horse" or "visualize yourself in a forest" were just figures of speech. I never thought people could actually 'picture' or 'visualize' in their head, and I am 50 years old!

First time I encountered this was with a girlfriend. She had no books or even magazines at her place. When I asked her about it and dug into it a bit she told me that reading for her was nothing but words on a page. She had no idea what I was talking about when I told her that when I read I was right in the story and the real world would just vanish.

Wow. My stream of thought contains words at the speed of light, which can never be turned off, visualizations, and a musical soundtrack in the background most of the time.

That soundtrack you hear Miss C.. It wouldn't be the theme song for Benny Hill would it. ;-)

Ha! Sometimes. I can usually change it up with help from YouTube. My default song is The Hymn of Joy.

Thinking is too fast for words! I can think in words if I try, but it is just too slow for everyday use.
I don't see pictures in my head either. Definitely thought that was just a figure of speech.
