The Problem With Disney's Movies In One Word

Okay, in order to explain the problems Disney has with "new" movies, they had to make up a word, and then spend nine minutes explaining what the word means. But we all know that Disney movies, including the live-action remakes, Star Wars, and to some extent the Marvel series, all suffer from dependence on nostalgia, recycling what worked before, and not giving us anything really new. Definitely true with Star Wars. I've always seen the problem as trying to appeal to a fan base that spans generations. Can't do it.

As for the others, what would you rather have - a remake or a reboot? -I'm OK with the live action/CGI remake because it's supposed to be the same (at least I expect it to be). As for reboots - dangerous territory. I'm good with James Bond, but feel Star Trek has been trashed.

Personally, I'd rather have completely new stories. We can always watch old movies in their original form.

I agree, with the exception of a few "Director's Cut" films let the film stand and do something new.
gwdMaine, the James Bond series Fooled me. I would have bet real money that without Connery they would suck. I was dead wrong, some are excellent but all are watchable.
