Paper Moon

This 1948 short film by Wah Ming Chang features an odd combination of papercraft animation, puppetry, and live action. (via Everlasting Blort)

Wow, is this the same Wah Ming Chang who created the tricorder, the communicator, and tribbles, among many other things, for Star Trek?

He was working in Hollywood at the time making models for Disney, so it seems very likely.

Oh my goodness! He created the masks for the original Planet of the Apes and even created the animated Pillsbury Dough Boy!

He's had such a big effect on our culture. How come I haven't heard of him?

His wife, Glen (short for Glennella), is credited as the live-action 'head' in the short film. I could not find anything to indicate whether she was actually singing the song or just lip-syncing to a recording from that era.
