I live less than a hundred miles from Reedsburg, and at the time this advertisement was run, Viking Liquors was just one store in a strip mall called 'Viking Village' (which is still there today, in fact), and it was probably easier to clear a space for Santa there as opposed to anywhere in the grocery store or anywhere else.

On Tuesday Santa will be at Passions, but he's only taking pictures with girls from the naughty list.

I wonder if Viking Liquors at that time in Wisconsin was allowed Sunday sales? If not it would be easy to accommodate Santa. If so parents after waiting in line with 100 hyper kids would feel the need for strong refreshmentS.

FYI, Santa Claus visits Viking Liquors every year. According to their Facebook page, he was there this past Saturday, December 9th.

Sunday Liquor sales have been legal in Wisconsin since 1874, except for the years 1920-1929. Yeah, Prohibition officially ended in 1933, but Wisconsin repealed its law enforcing Prohibition in 1929.
