How Facebook is Stealing Billions of Views

When I find a good video, I naturally want to share it. Sometimes it takes a good hunk of time to find the original creator, but it’s worth it to make sure the proper person gets the credit and views, and therefore the revenue. I’ve run across videos that were originally on Facebook and were also copied to YouTube, which is great because YouTube is so much easier to embed, but I hate to divert profits to the wrong person. Now I find that Facebook has yet to share revenue with content creators. Not only that, but Facebook users copy YouTube videos to a Facebook video format, which negates any profit the producer would have received from it.

If you want to share a YouTube video on Facebook, you can easily just copy and paste the code you find under the “share” button on its YouTube page. Don’t download and then re-upload other people’s work. Not only is that stealing, you’re making work harder for me. And if you do create a great viral Facebook video, consider also opening a YouTube account to host it. You’ll make your videos easier to share outside Facebook and you might make some money!

By the way, sharing THIS video on Facebook appears to be a problem.
