I only wish that a number of the ancient farts in Congress would realize that the heart (or whatever) surgery that saved their miserable lives owed so much to the research from NASA.

also, I miss seeing you on that social network.

Saying that NASA's budget cannot be criticized because it's responsible for satellites is like saying that the Pentagon's budget cannot be criticized because it's responsible for air travel (jet engines), parachutes, plastics, first-aid medicine, etc. In fact, all the science that allowed NASA to put satellites in orbit was derived from science that allowed generals to bomb the crap out of cities from far away.

But for some reason, the bleeding-heart liberals don't think all the scientific advancements that result from warfare don't justify the existence of it, but the scientific advancements of space exploration do.

Who said anything about budgets? But since you brought it up, the easiest point to make is that NASA has much fewer deaths in its research than warfare.
