Creepy Clown Loves Sugar Rice Krinkles

Back in the 1960s, when adults were still under the delusion that children loved clowns, Post advertised their Sugar Rice Krinkles with a clown apparently named Ka-rinkle. The stuff that fueled our nightmares. (via Laughing Squid)

I used to eat this cereal when I was a kid. They tasted okay I guess, but I was more interested in the toy car that was in every box. If I had seen this commercial I would have switched to another heavily-sugared breakfast for sure.

'Ka-Rinkles' bears a strong resemblance to 'Bozo the Clowm'.  However, it is a long-standing tradition within the clown community that a clown's identity is unique and no other clown duplicates it exactly.  In fact, the International Clown Museum maintains a pictorial record registry of professional clowns, past and present, in their make-up for this just this purpose.  So while we may see other 'tramp' clowns dressed and made up similar to the woeful "Weary Willie" as made famous by Emmett Kelly, there will never again be another IDENTICAL "Willie".

And it's the same thing here.  When you compare pictures of 'Bozo' and Ka-Rinkles' side-by-side, you'll see there are enough differences to realize that the tradition was observed.

That's what she said.

No offence Bill, my juvenile humor just couldn't pass up that straight line. ;o)
